Hop, skip and a week-ly style edit FOLKS! *shout out to people who got the Sex and the City reference*
The weeks seem to be flying by and it’s now officially TWO WEEKS until Christmas! I mean HELL FUCKING YEAH.
It feels like it’s been a while since I got a bit deep and gave you a life update. So, if you’re up for it, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
I’m not sure if it’s just me but the closer it gets to Christmas the less motivation I have. Finding the motivation to do any work is REAL hard. And the will power to put down the sausage rolls and toffee pennies from the Quality Street tin is non-existent.
These past few weeks (hell maybe even months) have been mental. With the Black Friday/Cyber Monday madness at work and prepping to move house my stress levels are PEAK city. But this isn’t a wallow in my self-pity post. This is a ‘I decided to embrace adulting and get shit done so I can scoff my face and truly relax in peace at Christmas’ post.
I managed to get all my Christmas shopping done for my boyfriend and the fam (immediate only – I’m broke af). All I need to do now is pop those festive tunes on (HELLO Destiny’s Child – 8 Days of Christmas), grab the mulled wine and get wrapping.
We also received our notice to complete for our house on the 22nd December *squeals* and I am SO bloody excited. It still feels surreal tbh…I never thought I’d be finishing off 2016 completing such a huge goal of mine. Especially when my original thoughts on buying a house were “This is completely unachievable Karina, what are you thinking?”. But I did it and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful/happy/excited/nervous – basically, ALL THE EMOTIONS. It’s the best Christmas present I could ever ask for and I’m most definitely ending the year on a massive high, despite 2016 being a real douche at times.
Anyway, now the Cathedral City paragraph is over, let’s move on to my other fave thing to talk about, FASHION.
I decided to go through all my clothes (again) and MAN do I have a lot of crap that I don’t wear. I ended up getting rid of so many ribbed crop tops and enough short skirts to film a Clueless sequel. As I said in one of my http://thewoodlandretreat.com/the-tender-heart-trailer/67d7a7d9-8cc2-44b8-ae13-68610f07ee98/ previous posts, my focus is on fail-safe outfits and investing in key pieces for my wardrobe. So, what better item to introduce into my wardrobe than the leopard print coat?
Leopard print is this fall’s most powerful trend and one you’ll find never goes out of fashion. It’s timeless, versatile and a girl’s best friend when you want to add some sass to a basic outfit. Style with dark jeans and a simple white tee and you’ve got yourself a statement look that will stay in your wardrobe forever and ever amen.
I’m really looking forward to finishing for Christmas now and giving my brain a chance to take a break from all this overthinking and worrying. But most of all, I can’t wait to spend the majority of time in my new house (in sweatpants of course) and quality time with the boyf and fam.
Until then I’m just going to try and enjoy the run-up to Christmas and let Mariah, Destiny’s Child and ALL the Christmas films keep me afloat from this deep pool of obligations. Too deep? Soz.
