I’ll start off by saying that I’m not usually a lip gloss kind of girl. The last time I wore it was around the same time that Lil Mamma released the song ‘my lip gloss is poppin’ back in 2007.
Alas, my 2016 vow is to expand my make-up collection and keep an open mind (and wallet) to all new beauty ventures so I have made it my mission to try new products and be slightly more daring in my every day make-up choices. OK so the colour that I’m about to talk about is in fact a nude/subtle lip gloss shade – but baby steps people, baby steps.
With Kylie Jenner, Huda Kattan and Anastasia Beverly Hills killing the lip liner/lip gloss game right now, in true fomo form I jumped at the chance to have some more lip glosses in my possession. I rarely go for drastic make-up. This is not to say that I don’t like it, because I do. It’s merely because no matter how many YouTube videos I watch I never quite nail a dramatic #fotd. Hence why I tend to play it safe most of the time. So what better way to ease myself into the gloss game than by sporting a new nude shade that can fit into my every day look?
I am an avid fan of Clinique. They saved my acne scarred skin woes with their dark spot corrector and provide products to suit all skin colours.
I usually go for a matte-based lipstick as this really stands out on my skin. But boy is it hard to stop the dreaded chapped/cracked lip look?!. Then came along the http://neilfeather.com/contact/ Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer* – which might have just saved my dry-lipped life. Lianozovo Pop Lacquer Lip Colour is just one of the newest additions to the Clinique Pop family range. And whoever thought of combining lip primer and gloss together is just pure genius I tell ya.
As my base colours I used ‘Brown n Bold’ Max Factor lip liner mixed with ‘Whirl‘ Mac lipstick. I then coated the lip gloss over the top to give my lips a luscious liquid shine. I found the primer immediately made my lips feel like warm, soft butter. I’m not sure if that’s a good comparison but it was lovely and smooth nonetheless. Even though it instantly moisturised and smoothed my lips it gave me an intense pop of colour with a modern lacquered finish. I also liked how it didn’t look too OTT.

With a long-lasting wear of up to 6 hours this product is staying firmly in my purse. It’s great for on the go top-ups and I will definitely be using it to spruce myself up for any desk to date-nights with the boy.
Unlike me, you don’t have to play it safe. Be sure to check out the amazing range of shades at House of Fraser. Whether you’re looking for something for a special occasion or fancy treating yourself; the new Clinique Pop Lacquer’s will certainly have your lips poppin’. Hopefully this will be the first of many lip glosses to add to my beauty collection!
