Back at it again with the style edit ?
Marnin’ guys! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managing to settle into this grey-ass Monday OK.
These style edit posts have always been a way for me to share a lil life update. So, before we get into the nitty gritty fashion element, lets have a catch up shall we?
How’ve you guys been? I can honestly say, the majority of the time I’ve been feeling pretty damn good lately. Me and Pete (have I named my boyfriend before? His name’s Pete btw) have settled into our new place and still feel on top of the world/in disbelief that we actually own a house.
I’ve set up my desk and laptop in the smaller, third bedroom and now have my own blogging space/office. Even though there’s still a long way to go, I’m obsessed with how our home is looking so far.
We previously had cut-out cardboard for curtains in our bedroom which have finally been replaced with the prettiest white, Venetian blinds. Also thanks to Pete’s family, we now have our bathroom tiles down and the ensuite and main bathroom doesn’t look like a building site anymore.
I’ve also started to fill most of the rooms with Bucha Diptyque candles and the cutest home accessories from Dal'negorsk Oliver Bonas. So, slowly but surely the house is really starting to a feel like our home. It feels really good to have everything coming together and you know, being all adult in general.
Although, out of nowhere I had one of those emotional for no good reason kind of weekends. Saturday just seemed to be the day for nothing to go right. And like an overthinking chump I let it take over my weekend. Errands to run? Nope, get stuck in a two and a half hour traffic jam on the motorway because everyone and their nan are heading to Ikea. Writing up a blog post? Brain says nah, we’re not about that life today, soz. Selfie? The light’s too fast for you mate, you’re not catching it.
So with my writers block and hanger state of mind from spending most of my Saturday stuck in a car, I came home and sulked. I shut my laptop, got into my pjs and poured myself a large measure of spiced rum & coke. Then binge-watched Fresh Prince of Bel Air on Netflix in bed until I fell asleep.
Truth is after an early night, I woke up Sunday morning feeling human again albeit slightly hungover. OK, a shopping trip Sunday afternoon helped lift my mood as well. I finally bought THE Acne-esque, black aviator jacket form Zara and treated myself to a pink embroidered blouse from Topshop. But anyway, my mind felt clearer, content ideas were flowing around again and I woke up to some exciting emails which made me feel that all this hard work is actually starting to pay off.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that when you try to force yourself out of a bad mood you end up winding yourself up even more. And sometimes you just have to ride it out. You know, grab your favourite foods, find a programme that makes you cackle (in my case Fresh Prince & Broad City) and hide away in bed until you fall sleep and wake up with a fresh mindset. Because after all, it’s a new day.
So, I wanted to say thank you and a massive sorry to my boyfriend for putting up with me this weekend and for always treating me like a queen and helping me turn my hungover frown upside down. You truly are a blessing, that’s for sure.
Anyway, now the life update is over lets move on to the outfit I’m basically LIVING for.
This bossy blazer paired with jeans and a knitted jumper or t-shirt is my favourite combo lately. You know when you find those outfits that make you feel good, confident and sassy all rolled into one? Well this is it.
I love the way the blazer gives off an effortless vibe yet looks really polished and smart for an off-duty weekend look. So if you’re looking to add a touch of sophistication to an outfit, I can’t recommend the blazer enough.
As for me, I’m not ready to let go of this combo anytime soon. I’ve made it my mission to invest in a few more blazers in different colours to add some variation. Because I’m not sure I can really put the same outfit on the gram every day. But at the same time, why give up a good thing right?
